Welcome to Back To Work Connect’s Reignite, Reskill & Recruit Audio Series. In this episode, Sarah Healy of Tools for Better is discussing the Returner Pool.

The Returner pool, what are returners? Right. So essentially, we’ve been talking about this term, but essentially it’s somebody who’s returning to work after a break. And they do tend to be women and they do tend to be, you know, midlife.  When we look a bit further behind the word, we see.

That diverse group of workers who are highly skilled, who are motivated, who are experienced, you’re ambitious and are eager to return to the workplace. And although the Back to Work Connect community is open to everyone, we need to acknowledge that midlife workers returning to the workforce after a career break are in the majority of female with 90% of homemakers listed in the 2022 census being women.

There are 96 million skilled workers, aged 30 to 54 on career breaks worldwide, which allows you and your organisation access to an experienced, untapped talent pool. Improved gender and age diversity, and the opportunity to progress towards reducing your gender pay gap. You get to tackle internal skills and also to tackle leadership shortages.
