Welcome to Back To Work Connect’s Reignite, Reskill & Recruit Audio Series. In this episode, Sarah Healy of Tools for Better is discussing the problems facing returners.
The problem can be broken down into two key areas. And it’s the barriers. There’s two barriers. There’s the candidness, preparedness, how the candidate feels that they are ready to go back into the working environment. And then there’s the company preparedness. How are the company ready to, you know, take in returners?
It all boils down to confidence. I’m not going to go through all of these because essentially there’s. It’s the confidence, right? And then it’s the, the, these whole pieces kind of fall from that. Like the fear of reduction and the uncertain uncertainty around returning, um, impostor syndrome is real.
It’s real with everyone, every one of us on a day-to-day basis. But it is something that is more prominent with returners and Back to Work Connect, do an amazing job in helping returners be prepared to reenter the workforce. One other thing that I just kind of wanna flag about this is in terms of the consideration of returning to work is the time constraints, right?
Jillian mentioned that she has six kids, so that’s a lot of responsibility. And then also you’re coming into care for elderly parents. So being able to create that work-life balance is incredibly important for returners, but it’s also incredibly important for everybody.
Organisations need to bear in mind having those kind of flexible environments that support returners, but then also support everybody. So just to take that into account.
