Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. We partner with a large number of high-quality international brands in each market including Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, Subway, Greggs, KFC, 7-Eleven, Shake Shack, Dunkin Donuts, M&S, Chopstix, etc in addition to our own proprietary Bakewell brand. In 2021 Applegreen moved from a PLC to a private ownership company structure in partnership with Blackstone Infrastructure Partners acquiring the public equity interest in the business.

What will I be doing as a Burger King Team Member at Applegreen?

  • Support day to day operations of the business.
  • Ensure shop floor is clean and tidy.
  • Ensure all food safety policies are met.
  • Food preparation.
  • Follow and enforce Burger King manual training contents.
  • Stock control and management.
  • Create the best food experience possible for customers.
  • Work closely with management to achieve weekly and quarterly targets.

The aim of the course is to provide you with the knowledge and advanced skills and competencies necessary for a successful and progressive career in the culinary arts sector. Learners will be taught essential practical skills underpinned with the academic knowledge required of a modern-day professional chef.


The course combines college based education in culinary operations with work based learning in industry. The primary focus of the programme is to prepare graduates for a variety of roles in food preparation in food retail outlets. Suitable for those with an interest in/passion for working with food and/or those who are currently employed in the hospitality sector with no formal qualifications and looking to progress their career.


What you will learn: Culinary Science and Food Safety, Culinary Techniques, Learning and Professional Development, Contemporary Irish Cuisine, Bakery Techniques, Seafood Processing and Culinary Practice and Work Placement.
