Description
The Postgraduate Certificate in Global Capital Markets (Pathways) concentrates on the development & application of skills and knowledge pertinent to key subject areas in the financial services sector. With an emphasis on application in a real-term context, the overall aim is to educate students with any business, or cognate undergraduate degree, in the principles of finance, both theoretical and applied. Within the context of financial management, the programme will enable students to engage in a challenging and stimulating educational experience and acquire sound knowledge and understanding of the development and application of key finance principles, concepts, theories and techniques.

All students will complete two compulsory modules in the first semester, introducing them to the theory and tools required to understand market and institutional structure, as well as develop the necessary and relevant interpersonal and transferable skills in preparation for a career in the financial services sector.

Depending on their chosen pathway, each participant will complete two further modules in semester 2. We require a minimum of 20 students on each pathway; if there is not enough interest in one pathway, students will be offered their second choice.

Pathways:
- Financial Risk Management OR

Classes are delivered in the evenings to facilitate those in work or with childcare responsibilities. Prior to Covid, the classes were held in person, but since the pandemic all have been delivered live & online in the evenings. The real time teaching and engagement is retained through the virtual interaction, and a number of additional online supports are available to students through Ulster University. Open book class tests and assessments are taken either face-to-face or online. It is expected that the September 2021 intake will be a fully virtual course, although additional face-to-face support sessions may be scheduled, when possible and if required.
